Located outside Hayward, Wisconsin, looms a muskelunge the size of a nuclear submarine, rising up out of evergreen woods. The creature is half a block long and four and a half stories tall, with 25,000 square feet of floor space and a kind of porch or loggia inside the muskie’s toothsome grin as a scenic overlook. Inside are hundreds of exhibits of intense interest to totally obsessive anglers, taxidermists and others devoted to the outdoor life on lake or river. In addition to all fish-catching paraphernalia (rods, reels, hooks, lures, etc.) are stuffed fish aplenty, antique outboard motors and innumerable other bits and bobs that evoke the full life piscatorial. Admission is charged but may (for aught I know) be well worth it. For details of visiting see: http://www.freshwater-fishing.org/index.php
